Following the release of The Lego Ninjago Movie comes the Destiny’s Bounty set. It is one fun-filled set with 2,295 pieces and measuring just about 17 inches high, 21 inches long, and 6 inches wide. This set is both playable and displayable, using different building techniques. This is probably one of my favorite sets because of its durability and creativity.
The Bounty’s detail is also incredible and adds to the displayability of it. I, personally, keep it on display above my fireplace! The set also comes with seven minifigures: Master Wu, Kai, Lloyd, Zane, Nya, Cole, and Jay. All of the minifigures are detailed and come with accessories that are very similar to what they used in the movie!
At the front of the ship are two large, identical dragon heads. They are very colorful and help make the set brighter. They’re also incredibly detailed! Plus, their mouths can be closed and opened. They are perfect figureheads at the prow of the ship and are fun to admire. I really enjoyed building the dragon’s heads and appreciate the detail as well.
Next up is the “machine” that pulls the anchors on the ship up. It actually works and moves pretty smoothly most of the time. It’s fun to twist it and see the anchors – which are located on both sides of the Bounty – move up and down as if the ship is really docking!
In addition to the beautiful outoor space and detail on the outside, there’s also indoor space where the minifigures can hang out! There are two indoor areas under the ships deck and one room with training equipment. In addition, there’s a covered deck where the helm is.
The covers of the top deck are made from garage door pieces which allows human access to the deck and serves as a detailed piece. You can see a small table towards the middle of the deck with a map and a tool for measuring. You can also see plants growing along the sides of the ship which are also on the main deck. I really enjoy this deck, especially because of the creative use of the garage door pieces!
Underneath the covered deck is a room with training equipment (pictured below). This room also has a lot of detail! There’s a scroll centered in the middle of the room and a mankin in the corner, along with minifigure accessories along the walls.
